Kryvyi Rih

The first official written mention of Krivoy Rog found in the "Paintings based postal stations on the river Ingulets from Kremenchug to Kherson" and dated April 27 (May 8) in 1775.

In the XVIII century, Krivoy Rog Zaporozhye became a big settlement in the composition of Ingulets Palanka Zaporozhye Sech, from the first third of the XIX century - converted into a military settlement. In 1860 Krivoy Rog city acquired the status of a part of the Kherson province, and since 1919, Krivoy Rog - the county town as part of Ekaterinoslav province.

The city got its name from the shape of the curve Cape (horn) at the confluence of the rivers Ingulets and Saksagan where the first settlement was established. According to another version the name comes from the Zaporozhye Cossacks Horn, called "curves", who settled in this picturesque place.
Now the city of Krivoy Rog occupies an area of 430.0 km2 and has a length from north to south 126 km (the largest in Europe) and a width of 20 km.

Krivoi Rog - one of the most mineral-rich regions of Ukraine. Most of the known deposits associated with ancient rocks of the Ukrainian shield. The most important among them are the ore deposits, deposits of brown coal, marble, dolomite (40% of balance reserves of Ukraine), roofing and talc slates, red lead, ocher, mummy, building sand, loam, scandium, vanadium, and about 40 elements of the periodic table, a complex use of which would ensure the well-being of future generations of citizens of Ukraine.

In our time in Krivbass extracted three main industrial types of iron ores: rich ores that are directly used in metallurgy, magnetite and oxidized ferruginous quartzites, requiring enrichment. The rich ores occur mainly among oxidized quartzites, creating about 300 ore deposits. The iron content in them over 46% of harmful impurities - hundredths of a percent. Mined their predominantly by underground methods.

Total prospected reserves of iron ore in Kryvyi Rih basin amount to over 32 billion tons.

Also at there Kryvorizhzhya unique in its kind hard stones presented radiant quartz - diverse natural "cat", "snake", "falcon", "tiger" Krivorozhskaya jasper.

Kryvorizhzhya rich and mineral water as drinking medical-table and healing (radon, hydrogen sulfide, and ferruginous waters, rich in iodine and bromine) for external use, which has chemical properties close to the waters of Pyatigorsk and Tskhaltubo.

Krivoy Rog - a city of regional subordination of the Dnipropetrovsk region, located in the central part of the Ukrainian crystalline massif in the steppe zone of Ukraine at the confluence of Ingulets and Saksagan included in the Dnieper River basin.

The economic potential of the city are more than 12 600 business entities - legal persons and almost 78 500 entrepreneurs - individuals. 

Modern Krivoy Rog - it is a big industrial city, as evidenced by the fact that the monthly industrial output is equal to the same indicators of the Ukrainian capital city of Kiev
